Artist Background
I currently reside in East Noel, Nova Scotia, on the shores of the Bay of Fundy. I began drawing at a very young age; I was inspired by my mother’s doodling and by “Mr. Dressup” – being fascinated by how a few simple lines could magically become a recognizable image! My parents bought me a “How to Draw” book when I was six and I proceeded to teach myself to draw. As a teenager, I enrolled in a painting class and so began my love of painting. I studied first year fine art at Mount Allison University and took continuing education art classes at NSCAD, but I’m largely self-taught. I have continued my art education by attending various workshops and classes offered by many prominent Maritime artists.

I am past president of the Truro Art Society (TAS) and have participated in many TAS and Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) group exhibits. My work has been purchased by art lovers from all over North America. I currently exhibit at Gallery 215 in Selma, NS, Namaste Esperanza Retreat in Ashdale, NS, as well as my own gallery in East Noel, NS.

Artist Statement
My work is informed by my life experience. I paint/draw/create that which inspires me – whether it be the exceptional beauty of the world around me, or an image from my imagination. I love to experiment with various media and subject matter – whatever captures my attention and interest. But no matter what the subject matter, there is always an intrinsic emotional element – one that hopefully the viewer of the work may be able to appreciate or relate to.
