First Artist Mini-Residency Saturday, June 24th
Stop by Saturday, June 24, for our first of many Artist Mini Residencies happening at the gallery this summer. The talented Susanne MacLachlan and Ann Whalen will be present and weaving, allowing you to see just some of the work that goes into the beautiful end products, like this piece of tapestry by Susanne that is in our gallery this summer!

We will be gathering for our opening reception at Gallery 215 Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. The Gallery will be open from 11 am to 5 pm.
This year we are hosting artists to celebrate Canada’s 150, with their art media and perspective on how they found their creative process. Gallery 215 artists have also been invited to explore and share their creative roots in traditional arts.
Currently artists have signed up, to demonstrate mediums such as:
Encaustic, Pottery, Oil or Acrylic painting, drawing and Watercolour, Rug Hooking, Knitting, Dye painting, Felting, Scratchboard and Photography.

October 8, 2016 – End of Season Celebration
Thank you to everyone who’s made the trip to Gallery 215 this year. Our 11th season is quickly drawing to an end, as the gallery will be closing it’s doors at the end of the day on on October 8th. We’ll be open from 10 am to 5:30 pm that day, with a special end-of-season celebration from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. There’ll be music provided by Tim Bowers, refreshments, and this’ll be your last chance to acquire art by more than 40 Nova Scotia artists in a variety of media, in one convenient location. Most artwork will be on sale at 10% off this closing day.

JUNE 26, 2016 – Book Launch: Lizard Love with Susan McMaster
Art and poetry are natural partners. Join us for the launch of Lizard Love: Artists Scan Poems by Susan McMaster, featuring 41 art/poetry combinations by 16 artists, including three works by Gallery 215’s Gwen Frankton. June 27, 2016 – “Down The Rabbit Hole” – Explore Your Creativity with Barbara Page
The goal of this workshop is to help participants learn to connect to their creative centre, and tap into alpha-mind creativity which arises when we allow the right brain to have its say, allowing for outside-of-the-box thinking. Participants will be creating a work of art, however, no previous art experience is required. Participants will be required to bring a sketchbook, a set of markers and/or coloured pencils, and a few old magazines. All other supplies will be provided. Limit of 10 participants. $30 per person.

JULY 16, 2016 – First Maitland Sketch Crawl with Gwen Frankton
This is a fun, free event for artists of all levels. Bring your sketchbooks and pencils, pens, or paints and join us for outdoor sketching fun. (Some supplies will be available for purchase at Gallery 215.) Tea, coffee, and homemade cookies will be provided after the event. July 17, 2016 – The Shakespeare Reading Group reads As You Like It
The Shakespeare Reading Group, which gathers once a month to read a play by William Shakespeare, will meet this month at Gallery 215 to read, As You Like It. Members of the public who are interested may sit in and read with the regular group members. If you have a copy of “As You Like It” please bring it along.

JULY 30 – JUL 31, 2016 – Studio Rally Weekend
Throughout the province, artists, workshops, and galleries are opening their doors for visitors to come see their work, their most recent pieces, and the places artwork is exhibited during the 24th annual Studio Rally Weekend. Gallery 215 will be participating, as usual. Be sure to pick up the Studio Rally 2106 Guide at participating studios and galleries, as well as visitor information centres. They’re free, good all year, and are an excellent guide to what’s out there in all of Nova Scotia’s areas.

AUGUST 21, 2016 – Manila Sailors Wreath Workshop with Angela Worsley
Workshop participants will learn how to weave a Manila Sailor’s Wreath, from rope weaver, Angela Worsley. Limited to 10 participants. No experience necessary.

SEPTEMBER 18 – Shakespeare Reading Group reads A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The Shakespeare Reading Group is gathering once again at Gallery 215; this time, for William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This time, they’re looking for enough people for each person to read a single role.
There is no fee to participate, though you are asked to contact us ahead of time to sign up for a character role. Costumes are not required, but are fun and encouraged. They don’t need to be complete, but be enough to represent the character you’re reading for. You’ll need to bring a copy of the play along, and so you can participate in the after-reading potluck social, bring something to eat or drink that doesn’t need to be heated, and doesn’t need to be kept in a fridge to stay cool.
