By way of introduction, my name is STUART L. TAYLOR and I am a Woodturner.
I make a variety of shapes, both the delicate and the durable!! I began turning in 1998 and really enjoyed it. I managed to win my first woodturning competition in 2000.
My turnings are made from local Hants County wood, most of my work being turned from green wood. This means that while the turning is absolutely round when I am finished turning it, it may no longer be round now that you are looking at it. This is a direct result of the pressures in the wood working on the piece as the wood looses moisture.
To get any piece to stay round they need to be double turned. This means that I turn the bowl relatively thick. This blank is allowed to dry for a year or so, remounted onto the lathe and turned to it’s final thickness and shape.
I am a Juried member of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council as well as being a member of the American Association of Woodturners and the Nova Woodturners Guild.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE BEAUTY THAT IS HIDING BENEATH THE BARK, IT’S TRULY AMAZING!!
