Our 2016 Operating Season: June 4 to October 8
Gallery 215 is a seasonally operated gallery in it’s 11th season of operation, which is quickly drawing to a close. Our last day of operation, open to the general public, is October 8th. We’ll be open from 10 am to 5:30 pm, with a special end of season celebration from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
Gallery 215 is a project of the Maitland and District Development Association (MDDA), who envisioned the historic Selmah Schoolhouse as a beautiful backdrop to showcase Nova Scotia artists. The MDDA restored the building with the concept of offering it as a community-based art gallery, where the artists are not juried but accepted as space allows. We are pleased to present both professional and amateur artists who bring a range of artistic experience to the gallery. Over the years the number of artists we’ve represented has grown, and in 2016 we have been showcased the work of nearly 50 Nova Scotia artists.
Gallery 215 works to promote the art offered in our space, and also our individual artists. All the artwork in the Gallery is for sale, and visitors will discover a wide range of sizes and subject matter within our walls. In addition to our original fine art offerings, we have a small selection of matted art prints by a few of our gallery artists, and an art card display.
The proceeds of each sale go to the Maitland & District Development Association (MDDA). They contribute to the maintenance of Gallery 215, Dawson Dowell Park in Maitland, the Maitland Viewpoint Wharf (which is accessed through the park), and a variety of other MDDA initiatives.
